I’m not sure about you but I really hate alarm clocks and sitting in traffic just to go make someone else wealthy. There seems to be no shortage of work from home opportunities online, but which ones can you trust. My years of research brought me to the point of asking myself “are there really legit ways to work from home, and if so what exactly are the best work from home jobs? After 5 years in this business I have learned a lot and keep learning more every day. As of now here are some ways I have found to be legitimate and scam free.

If you are not sure if something is a scam you can read the information I provide on my Identify Scams page. If you feel you have been the victim of a scam I will allow you to comment below or you may request that I investigate a potential scam on my Report a Scam page, also here on this website. Lets go ahead and see some of the legit ways I have found to make money from home.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is the best way I’ve found to make really decent money online, the platform I use is Wealthy Affiliate. I find the training at WA is the best I have seen online. Not only are the lessons laid out in video format but the Co founders Kyle and Carson are daily active participants in the Wealthy Affiliate community. I have personally received 1 on 1 help from both of them. Membership options are also easy and upfront Free or Premium that’s it! No B.S. and no scummy up sells.

The Free membership includes 2 Free websites that are yours for life, you never have to go premium to keep them and you can put your credit card away because you won’t be needing it with your Free membership. Take a look at the membership options below and compare for yourself. I’m sure you will see the value no matter which membership option you choose. I always recommend to start with a free membership and see if this is a good fit for you. If you decide to take it to the next level that’s fine too. I will also give you access to my Action Takers Bonus which will give you your 1st month of premium membership for only $19, this will really give you a feel for the Awesome power of this platform. You will see why Wealthy Affiliate is my #1 Recommendation.

Third Party Selling

E-Commerce sites Like Amazon, Etsy, and Ebay are also great ways to make money online. Getting your own online store front in any niche you choose is another great option. Out of these 3 sites I feel that Amazon has the best tools and offers the most lucrative opportunity. You don’t need your own website to sell your own products on Amazon or to promote products that are already offered but It will certainly give you a leg up on your competition. You can use free outlets such as social media to get started but I would advise you to get a website as you start making money.

Ebay is a great platform to sell your own products online and you get to keep most of the money except for the small fee E bay will charge you for using them. Ebay has been around for a long time and has a solid reputation. Be sure to deliver as promised and stay in good standings. It only takes 1 bad review to hurt your business.

Etsy also has a really good platform and they are becoming a Strong and solid presence in the e commerce world. Keep in mind that when people are visiting these sites they are already there with the intention of spending money so If you can get your product noticed on these platforms the chances of making a sale are great You can read more about these third party sites right here on a previous post I have written.

Freelance Writing

Another way to make money online could be freelance writing, if you are good at writing articles and want to make a few bucks on the side  then becoming a Freelance writer might be just the right opportunity for you. I have friends that do this and they tell me it’s a pretty good side gig. One of the biggest benefits of this is that you get to pick and choose your work, you can work as Much or as little as you want to. I know this may not be for everyone but it is a legit way to make some extra cash if you are good at it. Here are a few of the legitimate opportunities I have found that pay and allow you to make your own hours. I will list my Top 4 recommendations but trust me I have found nearly 30 freelance writing opportunities that actually pay. We will visit this in a future post because I can give you 30 Plu$ opportunities that really work. Be sure to read the guidelines before working with any of these companies because when they ask for a 1500 word article they mean it anything less may get you bounced.

1. The Layout: The Layout is a WordPress style platform which is run by Flywheel. You can be paid up to $150 for a 1200 word unique article and the best part is that you will be paid 48 hours after Final edits via PayPal. I will get into a more deserving in Depth review of this company in a future post.

2. Money Pantry: This is a personal finance blog that pays up to $150 per 900 -2000 word articles , the pay is based on the Quality of the unique content submitted and payment will be received once the post goes live.

3. Thriving Families: A family focused site that pays up to .25 cents per word for every 1200-2000 word unique article. The pay is good but be sure to follow the requirements and guidelines or your content will not be accepted.

4. Women On Writing (WOW) This site is focused on women writers and pays up to 150 per 3000 word unique article. Pay varies by topic and you will submit content via email. I am still reviewing this one but I have interviewed a few people who tell me that they do get paid.

Freelance writing is a really good way to make extra money but you are still working for someone else, which is fine if that’s all you have time for. Good writers can do excellent on my Top recommendation because you can write about whatever your passion is and keep a larger portion of the money through your affiliate links. Getting started is easy and free, so take a Free look at my Top Recommended Platform for 2019 and beyond and become the successful entrepreneur that you’ve been dreaming of.

Surveys Online

Believe it or not taking online surveys is still a thing and there are lots of legitimate companies that pay you. Some pay actual money and others pay with gift cards or some form of product, either way you are getting compensated for your time. Online surveys don’t pay you nearly as much as the other options I listed earlier in this article but it is a legit way to make some money online. Personally my time is extremely valuable to me and I don’t spend much time chasing the small change online but that’s just me. You may have a completely different perspective about this but I still prefer a platform that lets you make really good money online. I will list a few of the survey sites that I used when I was first starting out in 2011. Most of these sites are still around today so they are Legitimate, I just prefer Affiliate Marketing as my avenue to make money online.

  • Thank you for sharing ¨Best Work From Home Jobs – Legit Ways to Work From Home¨. You got me worried because talking about Amazon you state ¨..you don´t need your own website to sell your own products on Amazon or to promote products that are already offered ¨..My understanding is that there is an Amazon Affiliate Program. I know that Amazon has a low pay out for affiliates, usually hovering 5-7% mark. Bu I won´t let this dissuade me, because there are some very high ticket items that I can sell that’ll still provide me with a decent amount of revenue per sale. In some cases I only need to sell 2-3 items a day to cross into the $100/day threshold This is what I know. My Amazon Affiliate site is only as good as my content, so I need to write high quality content. For this I need: a) in-depth review post, b) comparison post (compare and contrast two or more of the top selling products in my niche, c) how to post (this kind of content is purely informational- the only purpose is to serve my target market without mentioning any of the products I´m selling) and d) round up and ¨Listicle Post¨. Listicle are incredibly popular. Since these are shared very widely, they have the chance to bring a lot of traffic back to my website.Am I wrong?

    • Everyone has a different approach when selling online. I also am an affiliate with amazon and I simply keep a widget on my side bar and this seems to work for me. Content will always be King and helping people to answer a question or solve a problem is some of the best content in my eyes. I have posted Amazon links in some of my content and it hasn’t affected my rankings, you just need to be conservative with how you use them. I see nothing wrong with the approach you are using with your business.

  • If you had to choose between freelance writing or affiliate marketing to make a few dollars quickly which way would you go? I am a relatively decent writer, but I am short on cash in the near term. It sounds like affiliate marketing has some great potential, but it might take some time to get the business going. Am I interpreting that properly?

Maybe I could do a few articles freelance while I write my own things for an affiliate marketing related business. Does this sound like a viable option?

    • I get your situation Craig, I would do it just as you have laid it out, it’s not impossible to make money right away affiliate marketing but honestly it took me 6 months or so. Faster revenue would certainly be with a freelance writing platform or even a user testing site which I will be releasing a entirely separate review about today. Best Wishes moving forward I hope this helped.

  • Interesting article. Work from home and earning a passive income has always been my dream and out of them all, I prefer affiliate marketing.

I would avoid surveys as there are many fraudulent ones are out there. I like that fact that you chose WA as the Best of affiliate marketing sites.

    • Working from home is very challenging and I don’t waste my time with online survey’s anymore either. Choosing Wealthy Affiliate was a no brainier for me, it just makes to much sense to not use them. I never thought when I was Getting Started that I would be where I am today and I owe it all tho the training at WA.

  • Thanks for sharing this post Best Work From Home Jobs, I enjoyed reading it . I have also been involved with affiliate marketing of sometime as well done a bit of freelance work for others. I am interested in wealthy affiliate and have seen it a few times well surfing the net . I just wanted to ask you if the free starter is just for newbies, as I do have some online experience ?

    • Rick, the Free starter membership is for everyone. I do recommend you take advantage of the 10 free training lessons but since you have experience that is awesome. I have no doubt that you will get these 2 sites to rank and you don’t have to spend a dime.

  • I absolutely love Wealthy Affiliate. One of the most powerful items about the program is the real education. Sure it takes a while to build a site, write content, and get traffic, but the benefit outweighs the effort. Especially long-term. To become successful at any business, you need effort, vision, and consistent output. Thanks for the post.

    • JB, that was very well spoken, you nailed it with that comment. I couldn’t Agree more, the training inside Wealthy Affiliate is some of the best I’ve seen online and the premium price is practically a steal.  Great day to you.

  • Hello Jason,I used to do surveys but honestly, as you put it right, it isn’t worth the time spent with so little earned. I started affiliate marketing not too long ago. No doubt, the amount of time spent is a lot more but I find it more challenging at the same time satisfying with each completed task and a bit of success.

You wrote a good article here and I believe it will help people know there are many ways to earn online.

    Sharon

    • Thank you Sharon,  I am happy to hear that you took a step toward creating your own passive income through Affiliate Marketing.  I’m not sure of your experience level, for all I know you may have more experience than me, but if I can help in any way please contact me.

  • There is some really great information here, especially about Freelance writing, which I have considered in the past but never knew how to get started.  I also like the information about surveys, which pay so little.  I agree they definitely aren’t worth the time they take to complete. Keep up the good work!

    • Thanks Nate I will be sure to add a few links in the Freelance writing content, I had no Idea how interested some of you are in this. I just didn’t want to overkill the article with links. At least you now know of 4 legit freelance writing jobs That pay. Have a great day.

  • Hi Jason, I’m too interested in making extra money with the help of the internet.

Many of my friends say though, this is too difficult and would take too much time. I’m interested in your first recommendation, affiliate marketing, is this really a timely way to start an online business or should I rather look into drop shipping or reselling real products instead, I don’t know?

    • Hello Stefan, I would have to say that decision is entirely up to you. Drop shipping will definitely get you paid faster as long as you have a viable means of promoting a product. Affiliate marketing will take a bit longer but the payoff is better sometimes considering that it’s your business and you can literally be making money while you sleep. I hope this helps in your decision.

  • Hi, I am currently providing freelance writing services to local companies and were just trying to find out how to provide this type of service to global companies. Luckily I found your page. What is this Wealthy Affiliate about? I saw that there are 2 free websites provided. Is this program about promoting affiliate products through blogging?

    • Hi Florence, to provide your services on a global level you can start with a couple of the legitimate ones I provided in this article. Yes you do get 2 free websites with the free membership and you can promote Affiliate products through blogging. Let me know if you need any help getting started.

  • Hi Jason,

Thanks for your post. I’m interested in supplementing my income with writing and I’m so glad I found this blog as all four of the writing platforms you suggest are new to me. I had been looking at Fiverr but I wasn’t sure about it, so I will check those out. Affiliate marketing might also work for me too given I enjoy writing.  And in the longer run might be more profitable? I guess that could create residual income whereas freelance writing jobs wouldn’t – once it is written it is done, whereas an affiliate site would provide recurring income? Thanks Jason, you have given me a lot to think about.

    • Thanl you for taking time to read this article Melissa. Freelance writing is a really great wa to make some decent money and it pays faster than starting your own blog would take. I would say that it,s really up to the person and how much time they have to invest into either opportunity.

  • Hello and thank you for your article Jason. You really got me interested in this. I used to do some freelance writing and I was really unaware that there were other ways of making money online. How great is that. Do you recommend some option over all others and why? I would really like to be successful online and quit my everyday job.

    Thank you in advance.

    • Hey Strahinja, I recommend affiliate marketing as my top choice for making money online, it is a lot of hard work but if you are willing to put in the time you won’t be disappointed. My reason for this recommendation is because it is the platform that works for me and with the training available at Wealthy Affiliate you just can’t go wrong. If you read about me you will see the struggles and failures I went through in the beginning, it wasn’t until I started my affiliate marketing business that I was able to make any kind of decent money online.

      Cheers

      Jason

  • Thank you for sharing this great information about on how to work from home.

When I started online business my first thing I try was selling items on eBay and Amazon, where I was making decent revenues back, but it takes a lot of work specially to find products to sell. I agree with you the affiliate marketing is the easiest ways to make money from home, luckily I found WA and I think it’s a great decision I made.

    • Awesome to hear you found WA and are taking the necessary steps to becoming financially secure. I wish you the best and always send me a message if you need any help.

      Best Wishes

      Jason

  • Wow, I didn’t even know there are so many different ways to make money online. The one that really interests me at most is that platform you mentioned about – is it completely free to look around it for real? I guess when you say you are dealing with scamers, you are not going to recommend a scam to one of your readers, are you? I will definitely consider trying that training and if it’s so wow as you said … we might end up colleagues 🙂

    • Drago, that would be great. I would never recommend a scam to my readers, the only products I recommend are ones that I have personally tried and tested ( including the scams). Yes I’ve been scammed in the beginning and now make it my mission to expose them. Wealthy Affiliate let’s you join for free and doesnt pressure you to go premium,  that’s up to you. Either way at the very least you get 2 free websites with your free membership for life. See you on the inside.

      Cheers

      Jason

  • I chose to work from home doing affiliate marketing because I’m a new mom. Paying for daycare didn’t sound appealing to my husband and I. Plus, I still have to get my Master’s before I can start working my dream job. WA offered a lot of resources for me to start blog writing and I defniintely enjoy it. I like that freelance writing bit. My site is still so new that it doesn’t make an income yet. That might be a good way to make some extra cash. But none of the freelance writing sites have links. Add them pleeease.

    • Dure I’ll be sure to add some links for Freelance Writing, also I really think that once you put the time into your website that you will absolutely love the passive income which comes along with it.

      Thank You

      Jason
